Fast/Forward: Nashville Artists Look to Our Future

Back in November, I had such a blast working as a DP and editor on this project, FAST/FORWARD at OZ Arts Nashville. We filmed and produced the show in a whirlwind, which made me feel like I was in college again- staying up late and editing for hours and hours! My pal and Nashville arts producer Daniel Jones connected me with his boss and OZ Arts founder, Mark Murphy, to jump onto the project, which came together as such a fantastic showcase of Nashville talent.

In this lively evening of filmed performances, Nashville-based dancers, poets, musicians, and theatre-makers reflect on the revelations, revolutions, and resiliency of the day. The event features short-form works from 8 different projects, many from OZ past and present, that explore personal vulnerability, civic responsibility, and the sheer madness of the unexpected. Together, these inspiring artists share a vision of the world we hope to build together and spark the hope that will fuel us into the future.

Each other performers did such a lovely job translating their pieces for camera and committed to their art as if a full audience was cheering them on. Each of them was offered a 2 hour slot for a light and tech rehearsal before running each performance multiple times. Needless to say, it was a long day for us on crew with some talent that is READY to share their art again. In the meantime, culture is pivoting to digital- I’m grateful for work in general and am so thrilled to work in this new way!
