Martin and Ashley / Wedding Preview Video

Martin & Ashley / August 8th, 2020

Over 600 days passed between Martin and Ashley's Monteagle engagement and their long-awaited wedding day. The word of the day was "finally," repeated by the couple, guests, family, and Father Mark alike!

Ashley and I met at a coffee spot in Nashville in January 2019 to chat on wedding ideas and dreams, more than a year out from their initial April 2020 date. We had such a fun time chatting about her recent proposal, and I was so flattered that she was a fan of my wedding film work! Because of the current happenings of the world, early every piece of Plan A we discussed that night turned to Plan B, to Plan C, to what eventually took place on their truly perfect August 8th, 2020 wedding day. Ashley and Martin were patient yet remained eager. When the day ultimately came, their backyard reception at a friend’s home (which they lovingly titled Cherry Farms) was the party of the year! The bash paired nicely with their traditional Catholic ceremony. Throughout the entire day, it was impossible to knock the smiles off Ashley and Martin's faces, and this wedding film is proof!

Sweet Relief: Dances for the Washroom

Sweet Relief: Dances for the Washroom

The first in the Kindling Flares series, SWEET RELIEF: DANCES FOR THE WASHROOM features new works created by 6 of Nashville's most beloved dancer/choreographers while in quarantine. With four solos, one duet, and a group number, each dance was created specifically for the most unexpected space: the bathroom. Utilizing sinks, bathtubs, mirrors, toilets, and some very creative camera angling, these dances explore the stir-craziness, isolation, and rollercoaster of emotions caused by being cooped up for months on end.

We’re in the middle of a pandemic- this isn’t news, but it bears repeating that the way we make art is changing. How do you create new ways to show your artistry without an audience? This is a question a lot of us are asking, but my lovely friend Daniel Jones is finding a new solution. When Daniel presented his idea for Sweet Relief to me, I knew it would be a special project to pour over during quarantine.

Although I’m certainly NOT a dancer, my favorite place to perform is in front of my bathroom mirror! I know I have this in common with so many people, so watching these dancer / choreographers create art in their own spaces brought to life a simple, familiar feeling. As the performers also filmed their pieces themselves, the edits brought a fun, collaborative challenge to me. Each of the performances are super different, but they all relate in a few noticeable ways. Plus, the edit on their group number gave me a chance to perform in my own way, with some poppy accents. It’s such an enjoyable watch, so don’t miss it! Also click over to the Kindling Arts Festival to keep up with news on their upcoming events.

Featuring original dances by Megan Carvajal, David Flores, Hannah McCarthy, Amanda Reichert, Sarah Salim, & Shabaz Ujima

"It's so easy to have this love in my heart for you, but at the same time, it's difficult to put into words the way I feel- here goes nothing."

Aubrey and Devon's wedding vows are some of the most vulnerable I've ever heard.

Devon and I have been friends for years- we met in undergrad and have performed together in different choirs throughout that time. When he talked about Aubrey to me and our friends, he couldn't help but gush about all she meant to him. Seeing him happy made my heart happy too! Meeting and spending time with Aubrey, as friends and as a wedding videographer, I was so honored to have her trust and to see her joy shine while spending time with Devon and their friends and family.

When I heard that Dev and Aubrey would have personalized vows, I knew they would show up and show out, and they proved me right! Both of them put their hearts on display and bared their souls. I especially enjoyed how well their vows fit alongside each other- this made the vibe of their highlight film so clear, even before I began the editing process after the wedding day. Paired with a special message, communion, prayer, and music, their wedding ceremony was classic yet unique. Afterward, their reception was one to remember too! Not only did I have a blast seeing some friends as guests, filming the dance party that ensued was so freaking entertaining. Dive into their wedding highlight film now!
