The video was filmed in a single, very long day of shooting. Shumate recalls that Griffin Dunn, the director of photography, “had cameras on him rolling from about 8 a.m. until 10 p.m.” It was exhausting, but absolutely rewarding, she says: “It was just so needed, a source of positivity in such a shit year and a half. It was electric for the entire day.”

I’ve been manifesting more work in the queer creative world. Turns out that speaking things out to the universe actually works sometimes? I got connected with my new friends from Bitch Fit Nashville, Ren and Caroline, and Nashville drag performer FEMNASTY777 to do camera and edit on Nashville Drag Excellence, which features forty drag performers from the vast spectrum of Nashville drag artists. Gag.

This has gotta be the most fun I’ve ever had on a project, especially one of this scale. I got to be front and center with so many stunning, otherworldly performers for a day! I had such a blast with our spectacular little crew and talent group and am still a bit speechless that an opportunity like this fell into my lap.

To Ren and Caroline and FEM, thank you so much for this job! I’m so glad the pieces fell the way that they did and I got to meet you three and be involved in making this video as special as it is. I’m also so grateful to Jared Cramer for writing the piece for INTO. Thanks for your work in spreading this gospel!
