Mary and Sam at Magnolia Farms / Wedding Preview

Mary & Sam / July 10, 2022

Simply put, Mary and Sam have something special. From our first meeting I knew what to expect from their wedding— intimate, heartfelt, connective. Rather than a grand party, they opted to invite a more close-knit group, who loved them "unconditionally and ferociously from the start," to come together for a Thanksgiving-style feast following a small outdoor ceremony.

The wide grins and tearful hugs weren't the sweetest part of the day, though. The vows during the ceremony were written with such charm and intention and hit me right in the heart. Mary spoke about their work trip together to Memphis 8 years before their wedding, when they began to celebrate their "friend-aversary" every year. As the story goes with so many queer people, their friendship continued to grow into a deeper relationship. Through bravery and through time, they were “brought together like an ocean tidal wave we couldn’t resist if we tried.” Tears. TEARS!

Sam and Mary, thank you again for welcoming me into such a perfect picture of true love. Love that is bigger than the love held by one couple, but by a community wealthy with love. It was a joy to be a small part of your love story!
